The use of dental implants to improve prosthesis retention has been well documented. The rehabilitation of the edentulous mandible has been accomplished with a variety of prostheses, using a variety of techniques. In order to improve patient care, dentists have strived to develop techniques that reduce treatment time and postoperative discomfort. This issue of Report on Prosthodontics discusses the concept of immediate loading and functioning of dental implants in the mandibular arch.
